The HKVCA hosted its annual Holiday Cocktails on December 12, 2023. Held at the China Club, more than 100 members and friends gathered together to celebrate the season, close out the year and join their peers for what was undoubtedly very festive networking.

The HKVCA hosted a special luncheon talk exclusively for LPs on December 6, 2023. The discussion was focused on the very timely issue of valuation best practices for those growth companies that have not undergone subsequent rounds of financing and are hence lacking in data.

EY valuation experts Dennis Leung, Partner, and Christina Zhao, Senior Manager, led an interactive discussion on methodologies, common approaches, potential red flags, and how to monitor portfolio values more effectively. The speakers noted that with ongoing economic uncertainty, LPs must be well equipped and fully prepared to critically analyze reported valuations and engage constructively with GPs.

The HKVCA hosted another of its popular Luncheon Talks on December 5, 2023, where the topic was how to navigate the latest regulatory and tax developments impacting private equity and venture capital fund managers in Hong Kong.

The event featured three industry experts, namely Gaven Cheong, Head of Investment Funds at Tiang & Partners; and PwC partners Helen Li, a specialist in the Asset and Wealth Management Industry Group, and Vanessa Chan, who primarily focuses on the financial services industry.

The HKVCA hosted its 2nd annual PE Leadership Forum on November 7, 2023. The half-day event was held in person at the China Club and attracted close to 140 senior industry professionals. The HKVCA Young Professionals Mixer returned on October 26, 2023, bringing together the next generation of private capital talent in Hong Kong for an evening of networking. Held at the Bankers Club in Central, the event drew over 90 attendees despite the dampened economic environment.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres fueled connections as rising stars across private equity, venture capital, investment banking, law, and related fields shared experiences and formed new bonds. Attendees praised the relaxed atmosphere and opportunity to meet like-minded peers.
