Hong Kong Broadband's PE backers make partial exit
24 September 2015

                            
(AVCJ by Tim Burroughs) - CVC Capital Partners and its co-investors, AlpInvest Partners and GIC Private, have sold a 7.6% stake in Hong Kong Broadband (HKBN), the internet services provider they acquired in 2012 and took public in March.
                       
The investors sold 76.3 million shares following the expiry of a six-month post-IPO lock-up period, HKBN said in a regulatory filing. Based on current market prices, the sake is worth approximately HK$679 million ($87.6 million), although it was likely sold at a small discount. HKBN's stock is currently trading at around HK$8.90, having jumped 6.4% on September 23.

Warner Bros., China Media Capital Unveil Join Venture to Product Chinese-Language Tentpoles

(The Hollywood Reporter by Patrick Brzeski) - Headquartered in Hong Kong, with offices in Los Angeles and Beijing, the new Flagship Entertainment Group Ltd. will produce a slate of movies for global distribution, with the first titles released as soon as 2016.
                               
Ahead of Chinese president Xi Jingping's visit to the United States this week, Warner Bros. announced a major agreement Sunday with China Media Capital (CMC), a giant investment fund backed by the Chinese government, to form a joint venture, Flagship Entertainment Group Limited. The new entity will develop, distribute and produce a slate of Chinese-language films, including global tent poles, for distribution in China and around the world. The first titles from the imprint could be released as soon as 2016.

ADV Partners closes dubut fund at $545m          
18 September 2015

                        
(PEI by Victoria Robson) - Hong Kong-based ADV Partners has closed its debut fund at $545 million, above its target of $500 million.
                        
Investors in ADV Opportunities Fund I include Hong Kong-based Asia Alternatives Management, as well as a sovereign wealth fund, a superannuation fund, US state pension schemes, fund of funds, endowments and family offices, the firm said.
                           
It is already about 30 percent invested, targeting mid-market opportunities across sectors with a focus on China and India and looking opportunistically at South East Asia and developed markets in Asia and Australasia. Its typical investment size is $25 million to $75 million.
