An urgent meeting was held to brief members on the latest developments relating to FATCA (the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act), which is scheduled to come into effect in the US in 2013. Richard Weisman of law firm Baker & McKenzie shared with the over 30 attendees the potential impact FATCA will likely have on Asia Pacific funds and ways in which funds that do not comply with FATCA might be protected.

The 9th installment of our extremely popular wine tasting event saw a record high 60 people in attendance. We were, once again, oversubscribed and there was a long waiting list of those wishing to attend. Special thanks goes to our sponsors, Clifford Chance and Alter Domus. The star of the evening was “Master of Wine” Debra Meiburg, who took us on a “journey” through the Burgundy region and its extraordinary wines. As always the talk was both entertaining and instructive. Thanks also to our organizing committee and especially Marcus Thompson for another very successful event.
