About The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies (CHKLC)
Incorporated in September 2002, CHKLC is a non-profit organization serving listed companies and other industry bodies in Hong Kong. The Chamber strives to promote sound corporate governance; function as an effective communication channel between listed companies and regulatory authorities; strengthen the commercial linkage and foster cooperation among listed companies from Hong Kong and China and uphold Hong Kong’s position as an international trade, commercial and financial centre.  Since 2007, the Chamber organises the annual “Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards” jointly with the Hong Kong Baptist University to advocate best practices of corporate governance and recognize excellence, and from 2008 organises the annual “Listed Companies Conference” to provide a forum of discussion of stock market issues.

About Hong Kong Venture Capital And Private Equity Association (HKVCA)

Hong Kong stands as Asia's largest venture capital/private equity hub in Asia. As at 2007, private equity funds under management in Asia grew to over US$190 billion.
Since 1980s, the number of venture capital funds setting up operations in HK had grown significantly due uncomplicated tax structures, financial infrastructure and efficient communications. There are about 300 firms with more than 650 professionals based in Hong Kong that invests across Asia including China, India, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and other South East Asian countries.
HKVCA was established in 1987 to serve the interests of the private equity industry in promoting the asset class, providing a platform for networking and cooperation on regional and international front, and improving the investment environment by raising the professional standards of the market. In Asia it assumes an important role in developing a distinct identity for Asian Venture Capital.

The Asian Financial Forum (AFF) brings together the most influential members of the global financial community and business leaders to discuss the latest trends and developments in Asian's financial sector.  In 2009, AFF features distinguished speakers such as Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the IMF, and James Rogers, Co-founder of Quantum Fund.

We are excited to invite all HKVCA members to participate in the "DealSource" session during the Asian Financial Forum 2009 (AFF). The "DealSource" session is a structured networking event aimed at matching opportunities with potential investors. Structured networking events have historically led to increased investment transactions and long term business relationships.

HKVCA is pleased to hold this session jointly with the Association for Corporate Growth (www.acg.org). ACG is the premier global association for professionals involved in corporate growth, corporate development, and M&A. Today ACG stands at over 12,000 members from corporations, private equity, finance, and professional service firms representing Fortune 500, Fortune1000, FTSE 100, and mid-market companies in 53 chapters in North America and Europe.

The "DealSource" session is a series of speed-dating-type meetings between HKVCA members and ACG members.  Representatives rotate after every 20-minute short meetings. The entire session last about three hours.

Project Details:
Logital has made its flagship product, EasyHear, a booster attached to hearing aids, ready for sale globally since September 2008. Worldwide deaf population is now about 10% of total, or 600 million, counting the elderly people. To better exploit such huge market potential, Logital is seeking a total of USD 14 million to construct new production capacities, to establish marketing & distribution channels for such highly specialized product, and to conduct further R&D of integrating EasyHear with hearing aids. EasyHear is a winner of the prestigious Best Digital Inclusion Award 2007.
Logital operates in a highly specialized niche where subsidies are high from the governments to finance equipment purchase by the hearing impaired people. Hence there is no cutthroat competition within the industry.
Budgeted IRR is 120% p.a. over 5 years from 2009 while the ROIC (return on invested capital) of the same 5-year period is 880%. Sales volume are only required in the range of 18,000 units in 2011 to 54,000 units in 2013 (compared with world deaf population of 600 million) to achieve the target of returns.

SPARC Forum, 11 November 2008

K.O. Chia, Co-President of HKVCA shared his insights about issues on fundraising, managing businesses under the current adverse economic conditions at the SPARC Forum at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks on Nov 11. The event was well attended by industry representatives from Hong Kong, China, Japan and Germany. Mr. Chia was also joined by other distinguished business leaders in a discussion forum. Together they gave excellent advice to budding entrepreneurs and executives in the audience.

Cyberport Venture Capital Forum (Co-organizer: HKVCA),
18-19 November 2008

Representatives from HKVCA, headed by Co-President K. O. Chia, attended the Cyberport Venture Capital Forum 2008. The Forum explored the latest thoughts about how to monetize innovative ideas, how to manage and compete in the knowledge-based, creative industry and how to maximize a company’s intellectual assets. Several investors also shared their experiences in picking the right investment in China and how they spend time helping portfolio companies to grow. The delegation attended the forum and post event dinner on Nov 18 and the Executive Luncheon on Nov 19.

CIFC China Venture Capital Conference in Suzhou,
20-21 November 2008

Representing HKVCA, S. C. Mak, Member of PRC Committee, attended the conference and signed a cooperative agreement with Mr. Lu Yuebing, Vice Chairman of China Council for International Investment Promotion Investment & Financing Committee (CIFC). CIFC is a national non-profit organization. Founded by the State Council, CIFC reports to the Ministry of Commerce.

The 12th Beijing - Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium,
26-27 November 2008

Representatives from HKVCA, headed by S C Mak, Member of PRC Committee, attended the 12th Beijing - Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium. Several investment projects ranging from IT services, healthcare and green/bio-technology industry were introduced to Hong Kong investors on Nov 26. Members of HKVCA also served as panel judges giving their advice on the projects presented. Representing HKVCA, our Chairman Johnny Chan signed a memorandum of understanding with Prof. Gui-Ru Chen of the Venture Capital Association of Beijing, confirming our mutual commitment to advance the interests of the industry in China and Hong Kong
