HKVCA
in Collaboration with
Cambridge Associates
to develop Asian Private Equity
and Venture Capital Performance Data

HKVCA is partnering with Cambridge Associates to provide extensive, independent Asian private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) performance data to industry participants.

As part of the strategic partnership, HKVCA will give its members access to aggregate Asian PE and VC benchmark data and statistics based on the performance of managers in Greater China. Cambridge Associates, a global provider of independent research and investment advice, derives PE and VC benchmarks from the financial information in its proprietary database of institutional-quality PE and VC funds, one of the largest such data repositories in the world. Cambridge currently provides U.S. PE and VC benchmarks; Global ex U.S. Developed Markets PE and VC benchmarks; Global Emerging Markets PE & VC benchmarks; Australian PE & VC benchmarks, and will soon be releasing African, Indian, and New Zealand PE & VC benchmarks.

“I am proud to announce our strategic partnership with Cambridge Associates for the creation of a private equity and venture capital performance benchmark focused on Hong Kong-based and Greater China managers.  Industry participants and investors have been asking for greater performance transparency, and this benchmark will provide that. We look forward to working with Cambridge Associates to provide robust and verified industry benchmarks,” said David Pierce, CEO of Squadron Capital and current Chairman of The Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.

“Cambridge Associates continuously seeks to expand manager research coverage and create benchmarks that can serve as valuable tools to both investors and managers.  We are delighted to be working closely with HKVCA, as we support its continuing efforts to advance the vibrant venture capital and private equity sectors in Asia,” said Anouk van der Boor, Managing Director at Cambridge Associates.

Cambridge Associates and HKVCA plan to issue quarterly performance data, which will include Asian and Greater China PE and VC industry returns compared to other market indices.  Returns data will be aggregated to protect the confidentiality of individual funds and their underlying portfolio investments.

Cambridge Associates will provide the data to HKVCA as a service to its members and the global PE and VC industry overall.  Cambridge Associates has similar agreements with the Australian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL), the African Venture Capital Association (AVCA), the Indian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (IVCA), the New Zealand Private Equity & Venture Capital Association Inc., the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) and the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA). These relationships are part of Cambridge's commitment to continually expand its coverage of the global PE and VC industries.
