    Head of Private Equity, The Church Pension Fund

    Eric Mason is a Managing Director of The Church Pension Fund. He joined the Church Pension Fund in 2009 as the head of the Fund’s new Asian office based in Hong Kong and has been based in Asia for almost 25 years. Mr. Mason and his team are responsible for the Fund’s investments in Asia across all asset classes with a focus on private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, credit and real estate. The team manages approximately $3.0 billion in investments in Asian based managers.

    Prior to joining the Fund, Mr. Mason was the head for the Carlyle Group’s Asia Leverage Finance Fund and before that spent 13 years at JPMorgan most recently as Asian regional head of Leveraged Finance. In these roles, Mr. Mason has developed experience in structuring, underwriting and investing in private equity and credit transactions. Mr. Mason first came to Asia in 1990 to teach at the Foreign Affairs University in Beijing with Princeton-in-Asia, prior to that he worked in Washington DC for U.S. Senator Bill Bradley. Mr. Mason earned a Masters Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and a B.A. in International Relations and Economics from the University of Delaware. Mr. Mason speaks Mandarin Chinese.

    The Church Pension Fund is a private tax exempt organization based in New York City with more than US$17 billion in assets under management. The Fund has been in continuous operation since 1917 and provides pension benefits to those serving the Episcopal Church. The Church is an extensive investor in alternative assets and has been investing with many of the global leaders in venture capital and private equity for decades.

    Rebecca Xu is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Asia Alternatives. Ms. Xu splits her time between Asia Alternatives’ Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong offices. Ms. Xu is on the Firm’s Investment Committee and co-leads Asia Alternatives’ investments in growth and venture capital funds, focusing most of her time on Asia Alternatives’ China investments.

    Prior to starting Asia Alternatives, Ms. Xu was a Senior Investment Officer at the Funds Group of the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”), the private sector investment arm of the World Bank Group. There, she had the primary responsibility of leading IFC’s fund investing and portfolio supervision in Asia for over six years. Previously, Ms. Xu also worked at McKinsey & Co, Inc. (Washington D.C.) and HSBC (Hong Kong).

    Ms. Xu received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Foreign Affairs College in Beijing, China. Ms. Xu is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English.

    Ms. Xu currently serves on the Advisory Boards for a number of Asia Alternatives’ China and India private equity funds. In addition, she serves as the Chairwoman of the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCA) and on the Board of the Chun Hui Bo’ai Children’s Foundation. Ms. Xu is a member of the Hong Kong Academy of Finance.

    Mr Chan is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a former President of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

    Before joining the Government, Mr Chan held a number of public service positions including member of the Legislative Council and Chairman of Legal Aid Services Council.

    Mr Chan served as Secretary for Development from July 2012 to January 2017. He has been Financial Secretary since 2017.

    Ming Lu (Hong Kong) joined KKR in 2006. He is the Executive Chairman, Asia Pacific at KKR Asia Limited and is a Member of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. Mr. Lu currently serves as a member of the KKR Asian Private Equity Investment Committee, KKR Asian Portfolio Management Committee and the Firm’s Management Committee. Mr. Lu has played a significant role in private equity investments across Asia Pacific. Since 2018, he has been playing a leadership role in KKR Asia’s growth and expansion, including serving as a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Committee and Asian Real Estate Investment Committee. He was previously a Partner at CCMP Capital Asia (formerly J.P. Morgan Partners Asia). At JPMP Asia, Mr. Lu was responsible for investments in the automotive, consumer and industrial sectors in Korea, China, Japan, Australia and South East Asia. Prior to joining JPMP Asia in 1999, Mr. Lu was President of Asia Pacific at Lucas Varity, a leading global automotive component supplier. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Lu worked for Kraft Foods International Inc. From 1985 to 1993, he worked for CITIC, the largest direct investment firm in China. Mr. Lu received a B.A. in Economics from Wuhan University of Hydroelectrical Engineering in China and an M.B.A. from University of Leuven in Belgium.

    Mr. Samson Wong is responsible for managing all private markets investments at the Exchange Fund Investment Office of the HKMA. Mr. Wong currently leads a team of more than 40 professionals covering investments across private equity and real estate.

    Mr. Wong has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial and investment industry. Prior to the HKMA, Mr. Wong held various positions at major investment banks, including RBS, UBS and JPMorgan.

    Mr. Wong is a graduate from the Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA program and received his B.S. in Finance and Information System from Boston College.

    Kent Chen, CFA, is a Managing Director and head of Asia private equity at Neuberger Berman. Mr. Chen joined Neuberger Berman in 2015 from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) after 17 years of central banking career in various positions including Deputy Chief Representative of the HKMA’s New York Office and Advisor to the Executive Director for China at the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C. From 2008, Mr. Chen helped to establish the HKMA’s private equity program. Before joining the HKMA in 1998, Mr. Chen was Head of China Research at Daiwa Securities.

    Ian Goh is the Founding Partner at 01VC, a prominent early-stage investment firm. With a track record, Ian has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the groundbreaking companies, such as Lalamove, Xtransfer, and Hai Robotics.

    Before co-founding 01VC, Ian served as a Partner at Matrix Partners China, where he further honed expertise in identifying and nurturing innovative ventures. His venture capital journey began at TDF Partner in 2004 , which later merged into Kleiner Perkins China, where he held the position of Partner. In 2001, Ian joined Lycos Asia, an early-mover in the internet world. His journey at Lycos Asia began with corporate development, later transitioned to roles in business development.

    Born in Singapore, Ian spent the majority of his life there before pursuing higher education in Perth, Australia, where he earned a Bachelor in Commerce from Murdoch University.

    Gautam is a founder and General Partner at A91 Partners. Previously, Gautam was a Managing Director at Sequoia Capital India and also worked at McKinsey & Company. He is an alumnus of IIM Calcutta and the University of Mumbai. He currently serves on the boards of Exotel, Inshorts and Kaar Technologies and has previously served on the boards of Oyo Rooms and Star Health Insurance, amongst other companies.

    David is a Managing Director in the Asia-Pacific direct lending team, a member of the Executive Committee and a voting member of the Investment Advisory Committee.

    He oversees sourcing and executing investments in Australia & New Zealand.

    Before joining ADM Capital in 2014, David spent two years working for a Chinese e-commerce start-up after having worked with KPMG for seven years in their Consumer and Industrial Audit and Capital Markets Division in Hong Kong and Australia. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Tasmania and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

    Suresh Co-founded ADV in 2013 and serves as its Managing Partner responsible for South Asia investments. Suresh has over 25 years of experience with almost 20 of them in private investing, primarily in India.  Prior to co-founding ADV, Suresh was Managing Director and Head of India for Mount Kellett Capital and was a member of Global Investment Committee. Previously, Suresh was an Executive Director and Head of India for J.P. Morgan’s Principal Investments Group, where he was also part of the Asia Management Committee. Suresh began his career as a credit analyst at CRISIL (S&P ‘s India affiliate) and had stints at Arthur Andersen and Allegro Capital. 

    Suresh holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University. He is fluent in English, Hindi and Telugu.

    Queenie Ho is a Partner and Head of Investor Relations at Affinity Equity Partners. Queenie joined Affinity in 2004. She is a Member of the Investment Committee, and Valuation and Portfolio Review Committee of Affinity. She currently serves on the board of directors of Plaza Premium Group. Before joining Affinity, Queenie was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.     Wendy is a Partner, Managing Director and Global Head of AlpInvest Partners’ Primary Fund Investments team. She is also responsible for the Secondary and Portfolio Finance team in the Asia Pacific region and a member of the Operating Committee. She joined AlpInvest Partners in 2007 from Macquarie Funds Management, where she was Senior Vice President of Asia-Pacific regional private equity fund investments and co-investments. Previously, Wendy was a Director with Deutsche Bank Asset Management and an Associate Director at MetLife. Wendy received a BS in Business Administration and an MS in Accounting from the University of Southern California. She represents AlpInvest Partners on various Advisory Boards.

    Jonathan is the Chief Executive Officer of ALPS Advisory (HK) Ltd, a Multi-Family Office established in 2003 to represent a small group of ultra high net worth families manage their assets globally. Prior to joining ALPS in 2017, Jonathan was an entrepreneur in a transportation technology platform based in Latin America. Jonathan holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics and International Affairs from George Washington University, U.S.A.

    Praneet Garg is a Managing Director in Asia Alternatives’ Hong Kong office. Mr. Garg co-leads Asia Alternatives’ investments in India, Australia and South East Asia, and is primarily responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence, deal execution and portfolio management of private equity fund investments and direct co-investments in these geographies. Mr. Garg also leads Asia Alternatives’ market research function. Prior to joining Asia Alternatives, Mr. Garg had over five years of consulting and research experience with the Private Equity Practice at McKinsey & Company in the Delhi and London offices. He worked with McKinsey Private Equity client teams on issues of Private Equity strategy, organization, performance and due diligence. He also led the Private Equity research team and authored several market research pieces on Asia Private Equity and other related topics. Mr. Garg holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MBA from Mumbai University. Mr. Garg is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and English. Mr. Garg currently serves on the Advisory Boards of several of Asia Alternatives’ Pan Asian, Indian, Australian and Indonesian funds. Asia Alternatives Management, founded in 2006, is a solution platform dedicated to helping institutional investors make investments in private equity across Asia. The firm’s research, investment and client service infrastructure is solely dedicated to Asian private equity fund investments from offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and San Francisco. Asia Alternatives diversifies its investment program by targeting private equity fund managers in Asia.

    Mr. Gorthy is the Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for directing the investment activities of the Avenue Asia Strategy and has over 23 years of investment experience in Asia. Prior to joining Avenue Capital Group in 2014, Mr. Gorthy was a Managing Director and Partner at Pacific Alliance Group (“PAG”) in Hong Kong, where he was a Senior Portfolio Manager focusing on special situations and distressed investments. Prior to PAG, Mr. Gorthy was a Director in Deutsche Bank’s Asia-Pacific Distressed Products Group. Previously, he was a Director at Beacon Advisory Pte Ltd in Singapore, providing consulting and advisory services to Asian corporates and, before that, Mr. Gorthy worked in Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Finance and Investment Banking division.

    Mr. Gorthy received a Bachelor of Technology (First with Distinction) from National Institute of Technology Warangal (1996) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (2000).

Based in Hong Kong, Tim is responsible for Lexington’s Asia business and primarily engaged in the origination and evaluation of secondary purchases of non-U.S. private equity and alternative investments, and the origination of non-U.S. equity co-investments.

    Prior to joining Lexington in 2011, Mr. Huang was an Executive Director in private equity at LGT Capital Partners and prior to that, he spent time with Investment AB Kinnevik, Merrill Lynch and Gartner Group.

    Mr. Huang graduated from Cornell University with a BS in business administration and from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an MBA.

    Alex Imseeh has 10 years’ worth of experience in financial markets and data infrastructure. He commenced his journey in September 2014 with the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), where he presently serves as a senior business development manager in the funds team in the capital markets division at the London Stock Exchange. In this capacity, Alex advises fund managers on the process of raising, listing, and trading closed-ended funds. 

    His earlier contributions at the London Stock Exchange included valuable involvement in the debt capital markets team, where he supported sovereigns and corporates in raising international capital. Notably, Alex played a pivotal role in shaping the sustainable bond market during this period.
